Kristen was born and raised in Wisconsin and has been a Village of Pewaukee resident for over 13 years. She graduated from UW- Whitewater in 2007 - right in time for the recession, which helped hone her drive and business skillset. In 2010, Kristen and her husband, Kyle, bought their first home in Pewaukee. Throughout the past 13 years living in this beautiful community, Kristen and Kyle have built a 2nd house within the Village, started small businesses, changed careers, acquired property, and welcomed two amazing daughters into this world.
Kristen's career background consists of 10+ years working in corporate retail, buying, and financial planning. Several years ago, she transitioned into the non-profit sector, working for a nationwide Animal Welfare Organization. She is proudly self-employed, working hard to grow her family's small business that focuses on property management, investments, and business consulting. However, she still finds time for volunteering, such as chairing the Scholastic Book Fair at PLE and helping throughout the school. Kristen firmly believes that her career path, volunteer experience, and family have equipped her with a terrific skill set and diverse experience that will add value to the Village Board while advocating for the residents.
Kristen is running for the Village Trustee position to impact our beloved community positively. As an engaged resident, a landlord, a small business owner, and a Mom of two young children in our schools, her insight as a member of this community is extensive. Kristen's financial management, communication, and problem-solving strengths will benefit the Trustee role.
Kristen Kreuser is not a politically-backed candidate. Pewaukee elections, and all boards, are non-partisan, and she fully respects that. She is committed to doing what is best for the longevity of Pewaukee and the residents, and she believes progress cannot be achieved at such a local scale if officials have to toe a party line.
Kristen is ingrained in every aspect of our Village, and she understands the needs, challenges, and priorities personally and professionally. There are many reasons why she chose to run for the Trustee Role and why she believes she is an excellent candidate - here are a few :
Our governing body should be a reflection of our constituents. The median age of Village Residents is 40, but the median age of the Village Board is almost 60. As we travel through each decade of life, priorities shift and times change, and it is beneficial to all residents when local office has a holistic representation. As a candidate from (slightly below) the median age group, Kristen would love the opportunity to collaborate with our seasoned leaders, and together represent the complete demographic of the community.
Kristen's successful career, personal strengths, energetic drive, and genuine love for Pewaukee would make her a valuable addition to the current Board. The Budget, Strategic Plan, and sustainability of our community will continue to be topics the Board needs to tackle. She is skilled at putting together a strategic plan and detailed financial management. She spent most of her career managing 100+ Million dollar businesses and achieving demanding financial targets, while constantly challenged to "Do More With Less". Kristen is analytical, process improvement-focused, and enjoys collaborating to find creative solutions.
As a Mother of tiny Pewaukee Pirates, Kristen was surprised to learn the vast majority of our elected officials on the Village Board do not currently have children in our schools. While the Village Board certainly doesn't manage PSD, the school is at the heart of our Village, and is a top reason why so many young families desire to move to Pewaukee. Additionally, since the school is physically in the Village, the Village Board is tasked decisions about the school such as policing, vehicle & pedestrian safety, and land use. Electing Trustees that are also young parents themselves, who are engaged in the school system and connected with so many other local families, is an asset. This is particularly true when making long-lasting or financial decisions for the community and future generations.
Kristen is a solutions-based, out-of-the-box thinker - which is how her house on Pirate Pass came to be! New ideas and fresh energy are always productive, and different perspectives invigorate a political body and broaden representation. Knowing that the Village is predominantly built-out and land-locked, it is going to take new ideas and creative thinking to continue to flourish. Kristen has shown that she can deliver.
